Cobourg Town Council unanimously passed a motion to proclaim
April 15th to April 18th as
"Poetry Weekend in Cobourg"
and Thursday, April 15th to be
"Young Poets' Day in Cobourg."

The POW! 2010 Festival is the 2nd annual weekend of poetry in Cobourg, Ontario to celebrate Poetry Month.

A year ago, this municipality was the site of the first ever POW! Festival which gave the gift of poetry to over 400 guests and immediately became a nationally recognized poetry weekend event.

Cobourg has a poetry-savvy audience and an established Poetry reading series - held on the 3rd Thursday of every month (except December) for more than eight years by the Cobourg Poetry Workshop (CPW) - a group which itself has existed for eleven years. Our experience organizing POW! last year and these other poetry events lends itself to yet another success for the POW! 2010 Poetry Festival. - James Pickersgill
