Introduction

Eric Winter is fond of saying, with a smile, that the local Cobourg Poetry Workshop has undergone a peaceful palace revolution wherein the 'old guard' has been overtaken by younger 'upstarts'.

Eric is eminently qualified to make this statement as he is a founding member of the Cobourg Poetry Workshop and Cobourg's Poet Laureate. As such, he has and continues to make, an invaluable contribution to the local practice and appreciation of poetry.

When CPW member James Pickersgill had the vision and drive to assemble the Poetry'zown weekend poetry festival (POW!), Eric immediately supported the effort and agreed to have this chapbook published for sale during the festival. He also agreed to have any proceeds go directly to support poetry in Cobourg.

This book has been assembled as part of the celebrations of Poetry Weekend in Cobourg as declared by the Cobourg Town Council. As Cobourg's Poet Laureate, Eric has written poems to celebrate various occasions in Cobourg and they are presented here for your reading pleasure. ....................................................Ed.
